The Barton Reading & Spelling System is a structured, step-by-step program that helps children learn to read and spell by teaching the connections between letters and sounds. It is multi-sensory, meaning it engages a child’s sight, hearing, and touch to make learning more effective and memorable. Barton focuses on both decoding (reading) and encoding (spelling) skills, guiding students from simple sounds to more complex words and patterns. While it is especially helpful for children with dyslexia or other reading difficulties, it is also effective for any child who wants to gain confidence and build strong, lasting literacy skills.

Foundation in Sounds™ was created to be used as a precursor program for any Orton-Gillingham influenced curriculum. Its purpose is to help students build auditory memory (remembering sounds), auditory discrimination (differentiating between sounds), and auditory sequencing (putting sounds in order) to prepare students for more rigorous OG curricula, such as Barton.
